DESCRIPTION:Saxophonist and composer Annie Dominique has been active professionally on the Montreal scene for 25 years. In addition to being a member of ensembles such as Vic Vogel’s Jazz Big Band\, the Jazzlab Orchestra and the Jean-Nicolas Trottier Tentet\, she has been invited to participate in numerous concerts and tours with groups including the Orchestre National de Jazz de Montréal\, Yves Léveillé\, Elvis Expérience\, Christian-Marc Gendron (Pianoman II and III)\, and has performed on over twenty albums.\nIn June 2022\, the Annie Dominique Quintet released its third album\, Réfléchir la nuit\, preceded by Rue Langevin (2017) and Tout Autour (2015). The members of Montreal’s jazz elite on the latter are Jean-Nicolas Trottier\, trombone\, Jonathan Cayer\, piano\, Sébastien Pellerin\, double bass\, Alain Bourgeois\, drums\, and\, Annie Dominique\, tenor saxophone\, bass clarinet and flute\, who composes and arranges all the pieces. The musicians’ interpretation and technique are second to none. Created in 2024 by two musicians from the Université de Montréal\, the duo offers a colorful amalgam of arranged pieces and a vast repertoire spanning jazz\, blues\, Latin\, bossa and more. Their performances are unique experiences that take us back to the 40s and 60s\, sailing under the influences of Sarah Vaughan\, Anita O’day\, Carmen Mcrae\, Charlie Parker and Ella Fitzgerald. Since its creation\, the duo has been made up of jazz vocalist Marie-Soleil Lambert and Jean-Félix Lagahe on piano. The Blue Sun Duo is an explosive source of creativity and interaction\, transporting listeners into a warm\, melodious atmosphere.
