Davis Kovacs Trio
The 45 Degree Club
Davis Kovacs (trumpet), Willy LeMaistre (guitar), Alex Bellegarde (bass)
Davis Kovacs grew up in New York where he began playing trumpet at the age of ten. Davis went on to study jazz at UC Berkeley where his contemporaries included Vijay Iyer, Brian Kane and Andrew Lienhard. Davis led Jazzteca in Mexico at the Cervantino festival in 1993 and then returned to the San Francisco Bay where he led the house band at the Galleria Park Hotel. He also gigged around San Francisco regularly with BJ Papa and Lee Alexander, among others. In 1998 he returned to his Native New York where he maintained a quintet with Benjamin Drazen and THE JAZZ GHOSTS. Upon moving to Montreal, Davis had a regular gig at the Porté Disparu club on Mont Royal Avenue with his band the Jazz Krispies. Davis has resided in the Sutton River Valley for the better part of six years where he enjoys playing to the echoes and the birds across the 45thparallel.
Davis is honored to share the stage with Alex Bellegarde, a virtuoso bassist based in Montreal who grew up in the Green Mountains of Quebec; and Willy LeMaistre, an accomplished multi-instrumentalist based in Sutton.
