DESCRIPTION:What a privilege to welcome this grande dame of jazz piano to Glen Sutton! Pianist and composer\, she will be playing on the recently restored Bösendorfer piano in Glen Sutton’s historic church.\nLorraine Desmarais is renowned in Canada\, the United States\, Mexico\, Europe\, China\, Indonesia and Africa for her solo\, trio\, big band and symphony orchestra performances. She has twelve albums of original compositions to her credit. Three of these albums (Trio Lorraine Desmarais\, Jazz pour Noël and Big Band ) won FÉLIX awards at the ADISQ Gala. In 2011\, the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM) awarded her an Honorary Doctorate. In 2013\, she was made a Member of the Order of Canada. Lorraine Desmarais has performed with internationally renowned jazz artists including Chick Corea\, Oliver Jones\, Jacky Terrasson\, Joe Lovano\, New York’s Big Band Diva\, the Brubeck Brothers and Paquito D’Rivera. \nYou can hear her on Sunday\, September 1\, 2024 at 3 p.m. at the historic Glen Sutton Church\, 1458 chemin de la Vallée-Missisquoi\, Sutton\, J0E 2K0. \nTickets are on sale online at: vivarte.ca \nIf you feel like supporting the restoration of the piano\, you can purchase a “Mécène” ticket for $100.00\, which will entitle you to a glass of wine and sparkling water on the day of the concert\,\nOtherwise\, the ticket price is 40.00 and 10.00 for children aged 12 and under. \nWe look forward to seeing you there! \nGen’viève Grenier\nPresident
