HÔTEL HORIZON
Ben Gilbert / Dominique Poirier
Curious and brimming with creativity, Dominique Poirier, a multi-instrumentalist who grew up in Oka, began playing the piano around the age of six and later took up guitar lessons. As a teenager, he developed a passion for blues and jazz, which led him to pursue college-level guitar studies at Cégep de Saint-Laurent. There, he deepened his mastery of the instrument and cultivated his love for composition.
His musical explorations allowed him to strengthen his passion for live performance. As a composer and performer, he went on tour with various jazz and popular music projects.
Having always had an affinity for the accordion, it was in 2018 that he began to take up the instrument more seriously. It was love at first sight. The accordion allows him to combine melody, improvisation, and accompaniment simultaneously. He is fascinated by the instrument’s versatility and its presence across various musical styles—jazz, classical, and folk. He is currently pursuing studies in jazz accordion at Concordia University.
