Dominique Poirier Quartet
Curious and bursting with creativity, multi-instrumentalist Dominique Poirier grew up in Oka, where he began playing the piano at the age of six, before turning to guitar lessons. As a teenager, his passion for blues and jazz led him to pursue guitar studies at the Cégep de Saint-Laurent. He perfected his mastery of the instrument and developed a love of composition.
His musical explorations fortify his penchant for live performance. As a composer and performer, he tours with a variety of jazz and popular music projects.
Having always had an affinity with the accordion, it was in 2018 that he embraced the instrument more seriously. It was love at first sight. The accordion enables him to play melodies, improvise and accompany simultaneously. He was fascinated by the instrument’s versatility and its presence in so many styles of music. Jazz, classical, folklore. He is currently studying jazz accordion at Concordia University.
